L-head v12 engine, three speed manual transmission, front and rear semi elliptic leaf spring suspension, four wheel power assisted mechanical drum brakes, with a wheelbase of 144 inches, and wonderful open air touring capability with extremely rare dual cowl. This is one of just 788 Packard Twelves for 1935 and was the most expensive style in the catalog. This is an older, high quality restoration, recently freshened with all rebuilt mechanical. Packard's original v12, the twin six, was discontinued after 1923 and replaced by the smaller single eight. In 1930, rival cadillac introduced its v16, then a v12. In response, Packard readied an all new twin six, later renamed "Packard Twelve." for 1935, all Packards received new bodies, with front doors hinged on the 'b' pillar, a trend that was sweeping the industry. The luxurious dietrich coachbuilders built a few of the production bodies including the convertible sedan, body style 873, making this model even more rare and sought after for the serious Packard collector.
