Take a look at this beautiful - all original - unrestored survivor - with 8,096 actual - original mileage - ( yes that's not a misprint - 8,096 actual - original miles since brand new !!) - 1946 Ford Super Deluxe coupe !! As you can see in the pictures and video this is a beautiful example of the styling of the first new post-war Ford's !! 1946 marked a pivotal year in the transition of the Ford motor company, from vital military manufacturing back to civilian vehicle manufacturing. With the american car market in decline, as well as henry Ford's health, Ford motor company threw everything they had at the new models in 1946 in an attempt to revive the car market, and boy did they succeed !! We have been asked to sell this vehicle by a long-time close family friend who is 73 and has been a collector for most of his adult life and has decided to down-size his collection, lucky you !! The current owner bought the car in 2000 and at that time the car had 6,544 actual - original miles !! Careful to not let this '46 Ford coupe get away you will never find another one like it ! Take a look at the lines on this beauty, too cool !! This Super Deluxe Ford still retains it's - factory original - correcty mounted firewall mounted data plate, very rare original Ford operator's manual envelope, original '46 Ford operator's manual and the original Ford "adjust'o'matic" am radio operator's manual, all of which are shown in several pictures below. This Super Deluxe has also won multiple early Ford v-8 club of america awards including the coveted rouge award and a the grand national award in dearborn, michigan july of 1998 !! This beauty is one nice driving classic Ford and is in unbeleivable factory original condition !! This coupe has also been featured on the cover of early Ford v-8 times magazine volume 35; number 6 nov/dec 1996 !! This classic Super Deluxe coupe is a nice - dry - solid - texas vehicle and boy does it show !! In my opinion this beauty belongs in a museum !! *** this vehicle is located in chandler, texas which is approximately a 1.5 hour drive from dallas, texas and will need to be picked up or shipped from that location. We work with several large shipping companies and can assist the new buyer in securing shipping at the buyers expense. *** this is an excerpt from the an article written in volume no. 5 of early Ford v8 times magazine, where this '46 Ford is featured on the cover: history of car: "this black Super Deluxe coupe was sold new from the e.j. Murphy, inc. Ford dealership in new london connecticut on 1-2-1947. The owners manual is dated october 1, 1946 and the radio manual is a 1947 version. The seats are done in m-16503-k Super Deluxe mohair and the door panels are done in m-16503-m Super Deluxe sidewall cloth. The car has a mixture of september and october 1946 glass. According to the stampings on the patent plate, the car was assembled at the buffalo assembly plant probably in november or december 1946. This car would have been among the last to be sold as a 1946 because as of 2-17-1947, titles were changed to reflect the 1947 model year without the benefit of a styling change." originality: "the current mileage on this car is 6590 (in 1996). This figure is accurate. There is a connecticut safety registration in the car dated 6-6-53. The recorded mileage is 4317. Billy r. Jarret bought the car from anna welch the widow of the original owner, john welch, 11-24-67. According to billy's recollection, the car had 5805 miles on it when he bought it. The mileage was low because the welch's lived in an older residential neighborhood in new london and did not have room on their property for a garage. Not wanting to leave their new car out in the weather, mr. Welch rented a garage to keep it in a block and a half from their home. Mr. Welch worked as a printer in the downtown area near where they lived. It was nearly as far to the garage as it was the other way to work so mr. Welch walked." "billy r. Jarret was in the navy in new london. He often bought older cars and financed them through the bank. He usually drove the cars while he was paying on the loan and then would take the cars home to his parents in north carolina and find another car. In this manner, he had around twenty collector cars when he retired from the navy. He recalls taking mrs. Welch and his family on occasional sunday outings in the 1946 coupe. Rusty davis purchased the car from billy jarret on 11-13-1994. At that time the car had 6544 miles on the odometer." at the heart of this beautiful 1946 Ford Super Deluxe coupe is the original - strong - 239 cid flathead v8 motor that is running very well indeed. The motor also retains it's original intake manifold, original exhaust manifolds, original oil bath air cleaner housing, original style 6 volt generator, original style 6 volt Ford scripted battery and it's original holley 2 barrel carburetor. Sounds great too with the factory style exhaust system. The engine is backed by the original - smooth - 3 speed column shift manual transmission which also functions very well. The beautiful - all factory original !! - charcoal gray and tan cloth Super Deluxe interior is in very nice condition with a very nice original gray striped cloth front seat wrapped in clear plastic, very nice original gray striped cloth rear seat, very nice original tan carpeting, very nice original black rubber front floor mat, very nice original matching charcoal gray and tan cloth door panels, very nice original tan vinyl sunvisors and a very nice original Ford steering wheel. It is hard to descride how nice the factory original !! 1946 interior is on this car, it looks new but isn't, too cool !! This Super Deluxe coupe is nicely equipped including the very rare - working - optional "adjust'o'matic" am radio, very rare optional Ford factory fire extinguisher, working optional hot water heater and defroster, factory gauge clusters with 100 mph speedometer, good original glass, factory "bolt lock" locking steering column, rare factory original front and rear transverse leaf springs, new fuel tank and fuel lines, original clock which is no longer working, rare optional dual chrome side view exterior mirrors and working power vacuum wipers. This Ford has awesome looks and great Ford flathead v8 power as well ! These vehicles have an appreciative group of owners any of which would be pleased to own this one. The suspension and drive line seem to be in good working order as well as the electrical system. This 1946 Ford Super Deluxe coupe is a great investment opportunity and it is priced right! This very rare Super Deluxe is in great condition from top to bottom and from front to back. It will not disappoint someone looking for a clean example of a sought after and hard to find classic collector car which is not seen at every stop light for sure. If you have been looking but cannot find a sharp post-war Ford worthy of your hard earned money look no further because this is the one! The - factory original !! - mirror black exterior finish on this vehicle is eye popping beautiful however it is showing some wear that you would expect 68 year old paint to show but still looks beautiful as you can clearly see in the video and the 100 additional pictures !! The clean - solid trunk sports the factory original black rubber trunk mat and one of the factory original !! Bias ply tires is still mounted on the spare wheel for a spare tire, wow !! The all factory original chrome and stainless steel exterior body trim and moldings are in very nice condition including very nice original chrome front and rear bumpers, very nice rare optional front and rear chrome bumper guards, very nice original chrome grill with the factory original red accent stripes, very nice original badging and very nice original chrome headlight surrounds. Check out the awesome - factory original - Ford steel wheels with matching red pinstripe, stainless steel beauty rings and correct original "Ford" chrome wheel covers wrapped in nearly new original style firestone bias ply "6.00-16" wide whitewall tires !! Boy does this combination look outstanding on this Super Deluxe and really retains that - "clean factory original" look !! All of the original light lenses and reflectors are clear, bright, uncracked and beautiful !! This vehicle is in great mechanical condition and it runs and drives very well. It is solid with respect to the overall mechanical condition as well as the overall cosmetic impression.i looked underneath and also included photos below, again this Super Deluxe is a nice - dry - solid - east texas - western car and boy does it show !! In my opinion you're not going to find much nicer original floors than the ones that are on this beauty, unbelievable !! The undercarriage has never even been covered in undercoating !!
