Description: 1952 MG TD/c mark ii roadster #TD/c 12956. (stock #3650.) following world war ii, returning gi's and victorious american and british publics turned to enjoying life and that included a growing interest in auto racing. Responding to this and the demand for a car with the MG TD's classic good looks but with better handling characteristics and more power, MG built a limited number of TD/c'sthe c' standing for competition. An additional set of andrex friction dampers was added to the shock absorbers of the car which along with twin fuel pumps, larger twin (1&3/4') carburetors, larger intake and exhaust valves, stronger valve springs, larger oil sump and a plethora of other mechanical modifications. Cosmetically, chrome grill slats were substituted for the standard painted ones and a power bulge' was necessary on the side of the bonnet to accommodate the larger carburetors and intake manifold. Our TD/c is a numbers-matching example, subject to a very well-documented body-off-chassis restoration fewer than 3000 miles ago. Beautiful in its as-original autumn red with matching leather and tan canvas top, tonneau cover and side curtains. It also has a gorgeous polished wood facia and matching steering wheel. Accompanied by volumes of restoration records and photos, owner's manual, original jack and tools, an extra set of whitworth wrenches, etc. 2,707 miles since restoration. $43,000. Price: $43,000 |
