Up for sale in our tampa showroom is a gorgeous example of pony car, the 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang convertible. Already fairly rare in the market, the 1964 1/2 Mustangs were considerably unique to the later produced 1965 Mustangs, with very subtle differences. The most obvious differences were the choice of engines, with this one being a "u" code 170 cid inline 6. This engine was later dropped by Ford and replaced by the 200 cid inline 6. These little 6 cylinders might not have made an impressive amount of horsepower, but they were one of the most solid and reliable engines made during this generation. The transmission is a 3-speed manual, which gave the driver full control of the powerband on these engines, which ultimately got fantastic fuel mileage for the time, with some estimates reaching over 20 miles per gallon! Some of the more subtle differences noted in these cars and the 1965's were the hood having rounded edges where it meets the headlight buckets, and the spacing of the word Mustang on both fenders. The interior of the car is done in a very luxurious off-white vinyl bench seat, which was actually a very rare option on most Mustangs during the 60's. The exterior is painted in a beautiful prairie gold metallic, which when matched with the interior, and white convertible top, shows off more of a high end luxury look rather than the typical pony car look. This car is the perfect daily driver for any level of driver, and with it's almost completely original setup, is sure to win over a few people at your local car show. Options include am radio, cassette player, automatic convertible top, hub caps, seat belts, vinyl interior, white walls, bias ply tires and a numbers matching engine and transmission.
