Description: 1966 Sunbeam Tiger mk1a race car professionally built to be enjoyed at scca events and track days amongst friends! Powered by a pro-built 302ci v8 comes with original 260ci v8 engine and extra racing wheels/tires. We are very excited to offer this race-ready 1966 rootes group Sunbeam Tiger mk1a convertible! This original Tiger was treated to a professional conversion to become a very competitive racecar in approximately 2008 while out in california. With the car completely stripped to its barest foundation to shed all unneeded weight, the original 260ci v8 was simply crated on a rolling dolly and tucked away for safe keeping. The rest of the car was then fully reinforced to meet scca standards of safety. This included the stiffening of the chassis and cross member to increase structural rigidity. A complete, professionally built 6-point interior roll cage was welded in place. To further add complete strength, the factory original hardtop was bolted in place, as was the passenger side door (one bolt). The driver side is reinforced with impact protection with the door simply pinned in place, but can still open freely, with the addition of a nylon window protection net fitted. The front suspension was treated to an ackerman angle kit, along with front wheel openings trimmed to accommodate larger racing wheels/tires, new rack & pinion steering system, sway bar, reinforced cross member, all new bushings & heavy duty springs. Braking was improved with a 4-wheel disc brake conversion with wilwood 4-piston front calipers and ventilated rotors, and ford racer-spec rear calipers. A wilwood pedal assembly accompanies inboard brake and clutch master cylinders with dash mounted reservoirs. Further safety items include full fire suppression system located neatly in the trunk, with 5 nozzles ready to extinguish any potential fire located in the trunk, engine bay, or interior cockpit. It can be activated manually by the driver or externally by track safety officials. A fifteen gallon atl fuel cell with foam bladder is beautifully secured to the frame based low in the trunk and feeds the engine through aircraft grade stainless steel braided fuel lines. Dual electric fuel pumps and inline fuel filter ensure clean, high-test gasoline reaches the hungry engine without fault! Additional improvement included a fiberglass, lift-off hood with intake scoop and extra heat extractor vents. The cooling system includes new aluminum fluidyne radiator, heavy duty aluminum water pump, and electric pusher cooling fan. This leads us to the heart of this superb beast! Power comes from a professionally built 302ci v8 bored .060 over with a full roller assembly. It utilizes 10.5:1 compression pistons, holley 650cfm double-pumper, remote oil filter with inline cooler, custom headers and magnaflow exhaust system! The result sounds amazing, but performs equally as impressive! Delivering this outstanding power to the ground comes through the 4-speed top-loader with heavy duty clutch and lightened flywheel. A custom, heavy duty driveshaft mates rear suspension to mark williams one-piece axles, solid traction-lok gearing, and racing leaf springs for superior performance planting power to the ground! It runs beautifully, sounds super aggressive, revs ultra-quick, and has seen only minimal track time! It was built to remain street legal with all new wiring harnesses to included headlights, taillights, and turn signals. All white-faced autometer/ equus instrumentation is fitted in a custom aluminum dash with easily accessed switches for ignition, fuel pump, starter button, cooling fan, lights (high & low beam), hella horn, etc. The seats are high quality ultra-shield racing seats with g-force 5-point harnesses to hold you in place. We stress that this is a wonderfully built scca-ready race car with no disappointments! The car will be fitted with 15' alloy wheels with falken tires measuring 195/50r15 up front and 225/50r15 rear you see in these pictures along with a set of diamond 13'x10 steel wheels already wearing race tires for hitting the track! It comes titled out of the state of missouri with original vin b382000992lrxfe. The original Tiger body chassis tags & jal tag remain untouched and in place. This authentic example remains listed in the registry while still owned by the former north carolina owner in march 2013. Please call with any additional questions or to schedule a chance to review this outstanding vehicle in person! We sincerely feel this Tiger could not be duplicated for the asking price! You'll have to put your own value on the potential fun factor! Thanks for looking! Price: $39,900
