Who doesnt love Mustang convertibles? From the first wimbledon white ragtop off the assembly line in early 1964 to this slick 1967 convertible, its hard to go wrong with one of Fords early ponies. Along with what we believe to be 52k original miles, this one offers a snappy 289, a handsome two-tone interior, and a great playful personality that makes it a car youll drive every time the sun is shining. Clearwater aqua (code w) is this Mustangs original color and only 1825 Mustangs received this gorgeous and period-perfect hue. Subtle and sophisticated rather than muscle car brash, it seems to emphasize Mustang details like the side coves, the deep headlight buckets, and the concave tail panel that houses the taillights. The bodywork also looks great, and theres no sign of repairs or accident damage in its past, which is what youd expect from a car from down south. The two-stage paint gives it a much deeper shine than the factory enamel ever offered, but you have to catch it at just the right angle to see how wonderfully shiny it really is. It hasnt been modified in any way externally, so no spoilers or stripes or even fake gt equipment, giving it a pure look that hits right in the middle of the Mustang phenomenon. All the brightwork shows as well as it did when it was new, including the bumpers, grille, windshield surround, and Mustang emblems on the fenders. Seriously, just look at the reflections in the bumpers...impressive, right? The interior is believed to be original, and is nicely detailed, with snugly fitted black seat covers, matching door panels, and carpets with the correct weave. Fords Mustang was growing up, so the interiors not only got more spacious, they were more luxurious as well. The gauges appear to be original and in excellent condition, with everything working as it should and shiny chrome bezels around them add some sparkle, and the aftermarket center console with armrest is the only deviation from stock. The original steering wheel is in good condition, the original am radio is still in the center of the dash, and it even has a functioning seat belt warning light under the dash. Theres a black convertible top overhead, complete with the Mustangs unique split folding glass rear window, and it stows under a black vinyl boot for summertime parades. The trunk is also nicely detailed with a correct mat and full-sized bias-ply spare tire. Power comes from Fords famous c-code 289 cubic inch v8, which has been detailed to look showroom-correct. The 302 would eventually supplant the 289, but it doesnt quite rev like a 289, which in my opinion greatly enhances the driving experience; it just sounds right. The engine was painted correct Ford blue and wears reproduction decals and a factory air cleaner, so look is exactly as it should be. In addition, the driving experience is exactly what youd get in 1967, as it is internally stock and still inhales through a 2-barrel carburetor. The c4 3-speed automatic transmission clicks through the gears without apparent effort, spinning the original 8-inch rear which is full of 2.79 gears, so this pony just loafs along on the highway. Underneath, the chassis is structurally solid with fresh shocks, a new gas tank, and a great-sounding dual exhaust system with transverse muffler. Handsome styled steel wheels wear modern uniroyal radials so it has a bright look with contemporary handling. They cant all be shelbys, and why would you want them to be? This Mustang convertible offers a ton of open-air fun, a rare color combination, and a great v8 soundtrack thrown in for free. Call today!
