Do you know why its hard to find a 1970 Ford f-100 survivor this nice? Its because most of these trucks are still used as tough workhorses today. This generation of the Ford f-100 is an icon because the handsome good looks come from a simple design that uses details to get the point across. The black paint with great accents make this stand out. Note the bright trim that runs from front to back, and below that, the stainless rocker and wheel well moldings. Up front the brightworks shine has been aided with new grille inserts, and in back theres a new bumper and chrome exhaust tips. Against the black paint, it all glitters like jewelry, emphasizing just how straight this truck really is - a rarity considering its age. The tough bed liner paint is an indicator that this is still a workmans vehicle, but considering its the top-of-the-line ranger xlt trim, it likely didnt spend all its life pulling double shifts. Some of the best ways to identify this upmarket pickup from the outside are the wood accents in the chrome stripe and the high-gloss wood panel tailgate. The interior is a stunning lesson in preservation. Remember, this is the upgraded ranger xlt model, so the durable vinyl bench has comfortable cloth inserts for the driver and passenger with some nice stylized trim in between. The pickup-chic touches dont end there. This model had special door panels with wood inserts, and textured vinyl that are still in pristine condition today. The original dash is nicely preserved, with all the instruments working as they should, as well as the integrated heat/defrost controls. All of the dashs wood inserts match nicely with the black and chrome tone. This f-100 has been upgraded to an am/fm/cassette stereo, but the knob-style unit doesnt look out of place in this time capsule. The three-spoke steering wheel looks like a true classic feature. Its the original piece for this truck, and 1970 was the last year before Ford switched to a two-spoke unit that utilized a lot of plastic. Under the hood, the original 302 cubic inch v8 still gets the job done. This numbers-matching motor is mated to a three-speed manual transmission. The combination runs extremely well, delivering a good wallop of low-end torque with a crisp v8 burble from the twin tailpipes out back. Take one look under the hood and it is obvious this truck has been under someones care all its life. The block has been given a fresh coat of Ford blue, and the air cleaner has been upgraded to an edelbrock unit for better performance and appearance. Other than those items, it is just a thoroughly clean and original engine bay. These Ford f-100s have always been the best riding trucks from their era, but its still a nice upgrade to have this pickup set on pacer tri-star aluminum wheels with wider and more modern firestone firehawk rubber. A clean survivor truck is always hard to find. Discovering an option-packed f-100 ranger xlt that looks this good might be a once in a lifetime opportunity. Call now!! |
