1970 Plymouth Road Runner

To be offered at auction at auctions america's auburn spring event, may 7-9, 2015.estimate:$ 20,000 - $ 25,000 at first, when the Plymouth Road Runner was announced as a new model in september 1967, many figured it was a put-on; a musclecar with a beep-beep horn and a cartoon character (albeit a very popular one) for its insignia? It was quickly discovered to be a no-nonsense high performance machine with a racecar theme of simplicity. It was a rugged two-door coupe deliberately devoid of interior and exterior frills with the majority of the attention on the engine, driveline, suspension and brakes. With these given parameters, the Road Runner could be offered at a price that could be held to a minimum and for the first time, the younger driving generation of the united states could afford the type of platform they wanted when the car was new. The 1969 Plymouth Road Runner was the motor trend car of the year; the 1970 version (like this car) reflected the qualities which earned the preceding model the mentioned honors, but with an original product philosophy and its own incredible popularity. This particular car is finished in orange and has a black interior for the nearly quintessential look that so many became accustomed to. The Road Runner is powered by a 383-cid, 335-hp v-8 engine that is matched to an automatic transmission. This car is reported to have previously been damaged in the rear in which the frame was bent. The current owner has owned the car for the past 16 years and he had the car repaired to its current state. It was repainted shortly after he acquired the Plymouth, and it also has new brakes, brake rotors and wiring harness.
