First introduced in 2007, the Local Motors rally fighter is definitely a candidate for baddest vehicle that money can buy. Starting with a tube frame chassis and adding off-road fox racing suspension, an aggressive coupe body and corvette power, the rally fighter is in its natural habitat flying through the sand at triple digit speeds. There is no other car that looks like this and can be taken to the dmv and registered just like a new toyota camry. Statistics do the best job of describing the car: 430 horsepower, 3,900 pounds, 80 inches wide, 18 inches of suspension travel, 13.9' brakes on all four corners and $100,000 base price. Local Motors and their awesome staff have built something truly special. It's not for everyone but for the select few, it should provide quite the thrill ride! To say that we are excited to offer this rally fighter is quite an understatement. Our particular car was built in phoenix, arizona for a private owner but mainly used as a Local Motors promotional vehicle for the first several years of its life to showcase at sema and other various automobile forums. It was later officially titled it the state of arizona in 2011. It is finished in a brushed aluminum vinyl wrap with black and red stripes. Local Motors chose not to paint their vehicles; not only does it save 12 pounds but also allows greater flexibility for customization and individuality. This rally fighter is powered by a healthy 6.2l e-rod v8 engine producing 430 horsepower and 424 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a gm 4l80e heavy-duty 4-speed automatic with overdrive utilizing a supermatic control unit, and has power brakes, power steering and air conditioning. The exterior of this particular example is well fitted with many options including: front brush guard, rigid industries led light bar mounted behind the front mesh grille, skid plate, roof rack with secondary led light pods and spare wheel/tire, and billet door handles and fuel filler door. The interior is finished in a classic shade of black with black leather recaro seats and red accents throughout the doors and center console. The cockpit of the rally fighter gives a commanding view of the road, while also putting the essential controls at an arm's reach. While visibility is admittedly not a strength of this car, it does have a pair of cameras on the rear-view mirrors that display on two screens on the aluminum dash, as well as one in the rear that displays on the inside rear-view mirror. Our rally fighter is further fitted with an ipod hookup connected to a rockford fosgate audio system, including four door speakers, rear shelf speakers and amplifiers in the trunk. Also in the trunk are two unfilled (not hooked up) nitrous bottles and some tie-downs for gear and other off-road accessories. A full roll cage and seat belts ensures safety for two front-seat and three rear-seat passengers during off-road maneuvers. Finally, the vehicle rides on method off-road race wheels with 285/70r17 nitto terra grappler tires. This rally fighter was owned and operated in arizona until only recently and has only 2,173 miles on the odometer. This exact vehicle was used in the discovery channel's episode featuring Local Motors and we have every reason to believe that the majority of the miles on this car were in fact coming or going from various promotional events in the southwest united states. It certainly shows well, with no signs of ever having been used for what was intended. It is a fully functional vehicle that should make for great fun for the next owner whether turning heads on the street or blasting through sandy canyons. This is a 50 state street legal standard production vehicle with an arizona assigned vin number; you should not have any problems getting it registered.
